Our hearts are heavy as we share that Louis Schoofs, beloved husband to Anna of 60 years, father to Ramona Kalid (Vince), Ken Schoofs (Diane), Jennifer Kurtz (Keith), grandfather to Matthew Bednarz (Amanda, great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jameson), Taylor Kalid, Katy Lukowich (Thomas), Julia Lukowich, Kyle Kurtz, and Jory Kurtz, passed away peacefully on October 28th, surrounded by loved ones. He was also a cherished brother, uncle and friend to many.
Born in Bladel, Netherlands, on May 18, 1942, Louis was the ninth of ten children to Louis and Wilhelmina Schoofs. In 1953, he immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Anna, and they were married on October 2, 1965. Together, they built their home from the ground up on Knowles Avenue, where they shared over 50 wonderful years raising their three children and creating countless cherished memories.
In 1976, Louis embarked on his lifelong career as an electrician, founding and operating his own business, L & A Electric Ltd. Through hard work, dedication, and a reputation for quality craftsmanship, he built a thriving company that served his community for decades. Louis was a dedicated and hardworking man, who took great pride in his work but also in the accomplishments of his children.
He deeply loved his wife and family, cherishing every moment spent together. A passionate gardener, he found joy and peace in tending to his garden and watching it grow. He also had a lifelong love for golf, often sharing the game with friends and family. Dedicated to helping others, Louis volunteered enthusiastically with the MS Society, especially during their annual bike tour, always generous with his time and spirit.
Above all, Louis treasured the simple moments - sharing food and drinks, laughter, stories, and lively discussions with friends and family, and creating lasting memories with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On October 2, 2025, Louis and Anna joyfully celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, a remarkable milestone marking six decades of love, commitment, and shared memories.
Louis will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and big heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Friday, November 7th at 2:00 p.m.
A sincere thank you for the care Louis received at Seven Oaks Hospital, in lieu of flowers please send donations to the Siloam Mission.
