MARILYN IWANICK

1940 - 2025

After a short but brave battle with cancer, Marilyn passed away gracefully and peacefully at 85 years of age.

She flies away to join her beloved husband Ray with whom she shared over 58 years of happy marriage, as well as reuniting with their beautiful shelties who have all crossed over the rainbow bridge. One of their favourite songs was by Leonard Cohen that they danced to at anniversaries - let us picture them dancing together now.

Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on                                          Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long                                                  We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above                        Dance me to the end of love

Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her only daughter Jennifer, friends, family and the many students she taught in her 35 plus years as a teacher.

A private Celebration of Life and interment will be held at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My deep and sincere sympathy on your mother's passing. I never got to meet or know your mother, but was a long-time co-worker, colleague, fellow-curler and friend of your father at Children's Hospital. I'm sorry to say that our lives drifted apart after I left Manitoba in about 1970, but I never forgot Ray, who was a gentleman and "mensch", deserving of praise and respect. I hope that happy memories will see you through your loss(es). - Posted by: Bob Strong (Friend, colleague and co-worker at Children's Hospital.) on: Nov 04, 2025

  • She was my Grade 6 teacher at Springfield Heights School. A beautiful lady and wonderful teacher. RIP Mrs Iwanick - Posted by: Helga (Former Grade 6 student) on: Nov 04, 2025

  • I had the opportunity to get to know Marilyn and Ray when they called me in as a Realtor to sell their longtime home on Wendover Place in Fort Richmond. We immediately hit it off either our mutual love of Shelties. My wife and I had Shelties for many years and loved our boys. Needless to say, Marilyn and Ray felt the same way. I was able to sell their home quickly and then found them a lovely condominium bungalow in St. Vital. I kept in touch in the early years in that condo but then our contact faded away over time as Ray’s health began to fail. They were a lovely couple and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to get to know them starting with our Wendover Place connection. We also had one other connection being that I knew their longtime next door neighbours John & Bev Schubert. Rest in peace Marilyn. I’m sure that you are reunited with Ray and the many Shelties that you raised over the years. - Posted by: Cliff King (Acquaintance) on: Nov 04, 2025
