INGRID KOESTER
It is with profound sadness and immense love, we announce the passing of Ingrid Koester (nee Krauss) in the early morning of October 28, 2025, at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Left to cherish the memories of her life are her children, Olaf Koester (Gail), Michael Koester (Shelley), Kerstin Koester, Lars Koester, (Shaena); loving grandchildren, Sarah (Michael) Wilson, Steven Koester (Ashlee), Inara Koester, Kieran Koester, and great-grandchildren, Claire and Theodor.
From survival and early years in post war Hamburg, Germany, to settling as an immigrant in Thompson Manitoba, to recovering from a stroke, to providing love and encouragement to her husband Egbert before he passed in 2018, Ingrid navigated a challenging life with courage, determination, kindness, and grace.
Ingrid was a private and loyal person with genuinely modest tastes that favoured solitary pursuits such as reading and listening to music. Indulging in a piece of pastry would always bring an instant smile to her face with the predictable request for “only a small piece, please". Most importantly, Ingrid instilled strong values in her children guiding and encouraging academic pursuits, independent thinking and ethical reasoning.
A life well lived!. Mit vielen Dank Mutti!
A private family interment will take place November 10, 2025, at St. Vital Cemetery, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, individuals may choose to make a memorial donation to their charity of choice.
