Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL DOUGLAS SEEL
Paul completed his life's journey. True to his nature, he faced cancer with quiet courage, faith and without complaint.
Paul will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joanne, and his three treasures, son Eden (Phillip) (Elliot), daughter Janine (Soren), and Patrick. He will also be sadly missed by mother June (Ron), and their stepson Don; father Doug (Peggy), sister Sherry (Shawn); nephews, Svein and Xander; brother-in-law Gerry (Linda); nephew Matthew (Mariah) and niece Danielle (Dustyn); numerous family, coworkers and friends.
Paul was predeceased by uncles, Lloyd Miller and Phillip Young, and grandparents, Frank and Eleanor Pearn, and Harold and Hertha Seel. He is also predeceased by in-laws, Rene and Gisele Lemoine, and Suzanne Wiebe, and Bibianne Tracy. There is certainly a tournament of four handed cribbage, “trente et un” or Zap that has begun.
Cremation was Paul’s request. No cut flowers, please. Celebration of Life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Tuesday November 18 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a lunch. Attendees are encouraged to wear the “W”, showing support for Paul’s favourite teams: Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Winnipeg Jets or University of Winnipeg Wesmen.
A livestream will be available for those who are unable to attend in person: https://youtube.com/live/vPBDzO-BO1U?feature=share

Joanne, so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. My most sincere condolences. Paul was my constant go to guy when it came to anything related to IT. Not only did I trust and respect his advice, I always felt comfort and relief after talking with him about my concerns. He never seemed rattled by issues that were causing me panic. He always remained calm and always had a solution. Working with Paul for decades was a pleasure. I often wondered how Paul remained so positive, kind and smiling while dealing with peoples problems all the time. He must have felt great pleasure in resolving problems other people were facing. In refection I can understand "There is more joy in giving than there is in receiving". Maybe that's what Paul felt. Paul gave a lot to us. I consider him my friend and miss him. Take care Joanne. - Posted by: Gary Pawlychka (UW co-worker) on: Nov 27, 2025

Paul was a constant and unfailing source of help with countless IT problems over the years. He was endlessly patient and kind, always generous with advice and recommendations about computer glitches and fixes. He was the go-to guy for advice on the best laptop to purchase, and over the years I learned to trust and value his advice. He will be sorely missed at UW. My deepest sympathies to his family, - Posted by: Neil Besner (Colleague at UWinnipeg for many years) on: Nov 26, 2025

So sorry to hear of Paul's passing, I found out the day it was posted at the UW which happened to be the day of his service. I wish I knew earlier for I would have come to pay my respects. He was definitely a go-to on campus in TSC and his expertise and sense of humor will be sorely missed. Condolences to you Joanne and the entire family. - Posted by: Eric Benson ((work colleague)) on: Nov 25, 2025

I am so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I so appreciated Paul's quiet and calm approach to all things that could go wrong with IT. It was always comforting to get a big smile and a warm hello whenever we crossed paths in the hallway. He and Joanne made the University a better place to come to everyday. My prayers go out to Joanne and the family. I will cherish the good memories. - Posted by: Glen Bergeron (Colleague) on: Nov 24, 2025

Paul Seel was a kind, generous co-worker and beyond the help desk he was my go to with anything IT related. Paul would help you solve your problems but was a patient teacher as well, though teaching this prof how to fish was a tough endeavor! Paul could chat software and hardware all day, but had a way of making it accessible to those of us without a comp sci degree or background. He was one of those positive, competent people that made it a pleasure to come to the job and feel good about working at the University of Winnipeg. My sincere condolences to the family, these things are very hard. I have no doubt Paul is somewhere right now explaining how to hook up bluetooth to the angels. - Posted by: Michael Weinrath (Colleague and Co-Worker) on: Nov 18, 2025
