GIOVANNI DI GERONIMO

June 22, 1952 – November 11, 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Giovanni Di Geronimo, who left this world on November 11, 2025, at the age of 73. After a long and courageous battle, he was lovingly received into the arms of Our Heavenly Father.

Born in Rionero Sannitico, Isernia, Molise, Italy, Giovanni grew up with strong values of family, faith, and hard work. At a very young age, he worked throughout Italy and Switzerland to help support his family. In 1972, he came to Winnipeg in search of opportunity, returning briefly in 1975. In 1976, he married the love of his life, Marisa Frabotta, in Italy, and together they returned to Winnipeg to begin a beautiful life and family.

Giovanni was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and friend. He is lovingly remembered by the love of his life, Marisa, his sons, Antonio (Deenish) and Beniamino, and his siblings, Antonio (Rosa), Lucia (Domenico) and AnnaMaria (Romanino), along with many nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by his brother-in-law Claudio (Teresa).

He was predeceased by his parents, Vittorio Di Geronimo and Giuseppina Bevilacqua, as well as other loved ones who went before him.

Giovanni worked for many years at Cara Flight Kitchen, Centro Caboto, and Grant Memorial, always bringing his humour, warmth, and exceptional work ethic to everything he did. His proudest moments were the births of his sons, Antonio and Beniamino who remained the joys of his life.

Giovanni loved God deeply and expressed his faith through daily prayer, attending Mass every Sunday, and living a life of devotion and gratitude. He loved gardening, not for the tomatoes, but because it meant spending time outside with Marisa. Together they enjoyed going for long walks, spending time at Assiniboine Park and Birds Hill Park, and sharing quiet moments side by side.

Giovanni’s love for Italy was unmatched. He carried his place of birth, Rionero Sannitico, in his heart every day and found joy in recounting stories of his youth. He especially enjoyed watching Un Posto al Sole and Il Paradiso delle Signore, shows that reminded him of home.

He will be remembered for his humour, wit, kindness, generosity, charming smile, and the gentle way he cared for others.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kidane, Dr. Peretz, Dr. Mayba, CancerCare Manitoba, and all medical staff involved in Giovanni’s care.

Condolences will be received at Holy Rosary Parish on Saturday, November 22, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m., Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., with a small reception in the church hall following Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Holy Rosary Parish.

He will be laid to rest in Rionero Sannitico, Italy, at a later date.

Giovanni leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, courage, and laughter. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
