It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lois Christianson on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the age of 87.
Lois is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Gail Johnson and Cheryl Petrie (Allan), niece Pam Sontag (Ted), nephews, Mitchell Hanstead (Sheri), Murray Hanstead (Candra), Darryl Hanstead (Sheila), and Keith Petrie (Jen). Aunty will be greatly missed by her treasured great-nieces and nephews, Sara (Dan) and Stephanie (Sebastian), Justin and Cameron, Grace and Ella, Owen and Audrey, Reid and great-great-nieces Elaina, Callie and Rosalind.
Lois was predeceased by her parents, Ellen and Carl Christianson, stepmother Pearl Christianson, sister Marilyn Hanstead, brothers-in-law Bryan Hanstead and Harold Johnson, niece Lori Chow and nephew Barry Johnson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the home care workers, helpers and special neighbours who supported Lois, making it possible for her to remain in the comfort of her home. A special thank you to the staff on 5N at the Victoria General Hospital for the excellent care she received.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Winnipeg in the New Year with details to be announced at a later date. A private family burial will be held in Kenora, Ontario next summer.
In lieu of flowers, Lois requested that donations be made to Breakthrough T1D Canada (formerly JDRF).
