DENNIS EDWARD COLLINGWOOD

Dennis passed away suddenly on November 27, 2025 at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Nola of 36 years. They spent all of their lives together at Pelican Point Beach in Ninette, MB, with several treasured friends; he never wanted to live anywhere else.

Dennis was born November 5, 1947 to Rex and Marguerite (nee Alexander) Collingwood in Brandon, MB. He had a varied work career, including Burns, The Red Fox and Cando Contracting. He finished as an Investment Advisor in 2023.

Other than family, his three great loves were sailing, sports cars and his Harleys. He was also deeply involved with the Pelican Yacht Club. Around 1992, he and Harold Baird were approached about hosting the Sailing for the 1997 Canada Games being held in Brandon. They were successful in this and were able to develop a beautiful marina and clubhouse. Hosting the 2004 Mobility Cup was also an event he was proud to be a part of in hosting. Dennis spent many years as Harbormaster at PYC and he will be deeply missed.

Several years ago, Dennis was invited to join the board of Southwest Community Options in Ninette. He loved his time there with both the Individuals and the staff. Through SWCO, he and other PYC members were able to continue and improve the Able Sail Program, which was very important to him. As well as a board member, he was Mr Fixit wherever he was needed at Southwest which, for anyone who knew Dennis, was not surprising. He will be greatly missed there as well.

For the last several years, Dennis and Nola spent time at Rio Bend Park in El Centro, California where they made new special friends, along with longtime friends. Dennis especially enjoyed the golf and riding his Harley down there.

He was predeceased by his mom and dad, Rex and Marguerite Collingwood, his parents-in-law, Burke and Elvie Garnett and his brother-in law, Ben Pauls. Besides Nola and their "boy" Rascal, he leaves his brothers Rick and Deb Collingwood (Lisa and Peter and family) and Scott and Carol Collingwood (Kris and Amber and family). Also, his in-laws Joy (Ben) Pauls (Anthony, Nicole and Trevor and family, Stephanie and Landen and family and Eric and Celena), Liane and Luc Huberdeau (Chantal and Chans and family) and Jeff and Tammy Garnett (Hillary and Mike and family, Kallie, Adam and Kasen and family and Anna). He also leaves his precious Aunt Marie Fulcher of Brandon as well as many dear cousins and countless special friends.

He would want anyone wishing to make donations in his name to choose Southwest Community Options, PO Box 46 Ninette, MB

A Memorial Service will be planned to celebrate his life in Spring 2026 for all who wish to attend.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Collingwood: My deepest condolences extended to you Nola and all family. I’m so shocked to hear of Dennis sudden passing. Over the years Dennis helped my late husband Lloyd and me with investments but was always a good friend first. Again Nola please accept my deepest condolences.
