KENNETH LLOYD MAHON

Born in Port Arthur, Ontario on April 15, 1950, Ken passed away peacefully after a short, courageous battle with cancer on November 7, 2025, at Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Faye Mahon, and by his brother Don. Ken is survived by his Uncle Nelson Parrott (Shirley), many cousins and other relatives.

Growing up in Port Arthur, his parents allowed him to run freely and explore in the neighborhood along with his friends. He loved music, especially jamming with brother Don and a few others in the basement of their Pine Street home. As a young man, Ken enjoyed skiing at Mt. Baldy, sailing on Lake Superior, swimming at the family cottage, scuba diving and tennis.

Ken went to Hillcrest High school and graduated from Confederation College with a business diploma. He moved to Winnipeg to work as a purchasing agent for Boeing, Canada (where he retired). In Winnipeg he continued with his love of sailing and purchased a sailboat, spending many hours on the waters of Lake Winnipeg. He became an avid golfer, which he did as often as he could, weather permitting. Ken also played pool on a regular basis with his friends.

Ken always had a passion for his dogs (Tanzer, Scooter and Buster), and he made many lifelong friends through dog walking. In the last couple of years he became a sports fan, following the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays.

Ken's ashes will be buried in the family plot at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario later this month.

The family would like to thank his good friend Marion (whom he met through dog walking) for being there for Ken, making sure that he wasn't alone in the hospital, keeping us abreast of his health condition and helping us liaise with his health care team.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ken Mahon can be made to the palliative care unit of Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
