Allan George Klym passed away at the age of 70 years at his home on the farm in Vassar, Manitoba on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
He was born on August 12, 1955, to George and Doris Klym (nee Dokken) in Steinbach, Manitoba. Allan married the love of his life Sandi on May 16, 1986. He recently celebrated his 70th birthday with a huge fish fry feast in Kenora, ON with family and friends.
Allan is survived by his wife Sandi Klym (nee Rebeck), his three children Jessica (Joshawa), Chase (Brianne), Jenna-Rae (Chris), four granddaughters (Sophie, Sawyer, Lily and Ella), sister Beatrice and brothers Barry, Gordon, Bryan, their families and by many extended family members.
He was predeceased by his father George Klym, mother Doris Klym (nee Dokken), brother Andy Klym, sister Doreen Friesen and many other close family members and friends.
Throughout his life he worked hard at whatever he did, always committed to his role as a provider for his wife and family. This meant many long nights on the road hauling logs to the Ontario pulp mills in Barwick, Fort Frances and Kenora, Pine Falls, MB as well as Bemidji and International Falls, MN. Family and friends would sometimes join him for the ride, and the kids would always end up falling asleep in the bunk.
Family meant everything to Allan. He really enjoyed spending time with his children and their families and would always run out to their vehicles when they pulled into the farmyard, to pick up the grand-daughters and bring them into the house. The smiles and giggles from the girls made him so happy. Sophie, Sawyer and Lily were taken on many 4-wheeler, tractor and bobcat rides around the farm. Many road trips were made to Morris and Kenora to visit his beloved granddaughters. On the way he always had to pick up Timbits for the girls to enjoy.
Allan taught his children how to work hard and have fun while doing it. He enjoyed his life on the farm, raising cattle and took daily walks or quad rides out to the fields to spend time watching them graze, ensuring they were all healthy and all accounted for. Calving season was lots of work but was so rewarding for Allan as he was always excited to tell anyone about how many calves he had so far, how big they were and whether it was a heifer or steer.
Allan enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends in Manitoba and Ontario. Every year he would look forward to harvesting the fields with Gordon and his sons Ryan and Kevin in Riverton, MB. He also enjoyed sitting down with family and a deck of cards around the table whether he won or lost (even if he had to play by his sister's rules).
You would often hear Allan and Sandi reminisce about their trip to Hawaii that they took in December 2010 with Doreen, Dave, Beatrice and Larry. So many great memories that they shared and often spoke about returning one day with the entire family.
If you ever dropped by the house for a visit, you would often find Allan and Sandi enjoying a cup of coffee, either playing a game of crib or sitting on the back deck with their dogs Laine and Lucy enjoying the beautiful weather. The dogs looked forward to going for long walks out in the field with Dad every day and sometimes they would often join him for a ride in the Pick-Up.
Allan was good company in any conversation. He was someone who could sit at a kitchen table, lean on a fence, or rest in the fresh cut hay beside a tractor and turn any moment into a meaningful exchange. He would listen fully and speak honestly, with stories that drew people in and made people laugh, chuckle, or smile. Whether the topic was farming, family, or the small details of everyday life, he made every conversation feel worth having. It’s a gift we will miss deeply and remember always
If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you. - A. A. Milne
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with reception to follow. The interment for family will take place on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Hillside Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Allan to either the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
