Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHELMA DESJARLAIS
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thelma Desjarlais on December 1, 2025, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mama passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Thelma was born to Lawrance and Grace Monkman in Lundar, Manitoba. She was the oldest daughter of ten children. She met Dad (Ronnie) at a young age, married, and had three children before the age of 24. She tried her best to corral her children, but shenanigans will happen when your dad is Ron! She supported and worked alongside our dad for many years on the farm, but also helped him set and lift nets on Lake Manitoba during the frigid winter seasons. Mom also worked a variety of different jobs to help support the family, but found the greatest satisfaction in taking care of her family. She was a devoted wife, caring mom, and cherished grandmother.
Left to mourn her passing are her beloved children, Eugene (Natty), Randy (Barb), and Denise (Wayne), and her grandchildren, Jared, Jillian, Danielle, Brighton, Ethan, Jack, and Sydney. Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Ronald, and her parents, Grace and Lawrance Monkman.
Mom was an independent, stoic, and strong woman. She minded her business and expected you to mind yours! It was always a battle to get her to tell you how she made something, where her secret berry-picking patches were, and what the latest gossip of the family was. We will miss her steady presence and her quiet acts of love.
A celebration of Thelma's life will be held on December 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Point Community Hall, 125 Sutherland Ave, Oak Point, Manitoba. Friends and family are invited to attend and share memories. In lieu of flowers, please consider an act of kindness.
