YVONNE MAVIS KUSHNIRYK

(nee HUPPE)

January 13, 1948 - December 4, 2025

It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Mavis Kushniryk (née Huppe) on December 4, 2025, at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, at the age of 77.

Yvonne Huppe was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, on January 13, 1948 and she grew up in Woodridge Manitoba. She married the love of her life and true life partner, Edward Kushniryk, on July 13, 1968, and together they made their home on a small farm in Arbakka, Manitoba. It is there where they raised their two sons, Donald and Keith and lived for many years. Yvonne's love and dedication to her family was a driving force throughout her life. She was a dedicated Teachers assistant who loved and cherished the time she spent working with the children at Shevchenko school. In 2013, Yvonne and Edward moved to Vita. It was that year that they lost their son Donald and two short years later Edward passed. Though this was a hard time Yvonne showed great strength.

Yvonne was incredibly crafty. She loved painting, woodworking and gardening. Her true passion was the days she spent quilting with her friends in the "All Thumbs Quilting Guild". She produced many quilts for charity and those less fortunate, stitching love into every quilt she made with the Compassionate quilters. She was affectionately known as Little Missy Perfect by her fellow quilters who looked to her as a wealth of knowledge, an exceptional teacher and a true friend. This group of women held a huge space in Yvonne's life and heart. They were some of her best friends and meant the world to her.

Her sense of humour, storytelling, creativity, and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son Keith (Michelle); her sister-in-law Joan Huppe, niece Pamela; nephews, Chris and Glenn, her sister-in-law Eva Maxymowich, as well as numerous nieces and nephews on her husband Edward's side of the family.

Yvonne is reunited with her beloved husband Edward (2015), son Don (2013), father Noel (1982), mother Irene (2005), and brother Norman (2000).

A special thank-you to Cindy and Cliff Bergen and their three children Hunter, Olivia and Ainsley for their friendship, kindness, and support. You were more than just neighbours, you were her extended family, and it is deeply appreciated. She loved you all so much.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery Box 46, Vita, MB, R0A 2K0.

We will all spend the rest of our lives missing you. Forever loved. Forever remembered.
