It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Georgina Pearl (Hall) Johnson at the age of 90.
Jo, as she was affectionately known, will be missed by her children, Tracey (Dale) and Jim; and her grandchild, Kelly; as well as her nieces and nephews and many friends from the cottage on Lake of the Woods and her home at Assiniboine Crossing.
Jo was predeceased by her husband James Donald (Don) Johnson; her mother Myrtle Grace Hall; and her sisters, Rita Myrtle Blanchette and Bernice Florence Miller.
A lifelong resident of Winnipeg, those who knew Jo always mentioned how outgoing and vibrant Jo was as a person and how much she loved to laugh and joke with people. She was a social butterfly who cared deeply for her friends and family.
She trained as a nurse and worked for many years at the Victorian Order of Nurses. Later she started a figure skating and dance supply shop with another “skating Mom”, eventually selling after many successful years in business.
In her early years she was involved in the St. James Figure Skating Club and in later years she volunteered in the English as a Second Language Program. She was always doing something, whether it was volunteering, going to book club, gardening, doing yoga, or walking with friends.
Throughout her life though her passions were playing bridge with the friends she made at nursing school and their husbands, hosting dinners for family and friends, and spending many, many, happy years going to the cottage that her and Don built on Lake of the Woods.
Special thanks to all of the team on the third floor of Extendicare Oakview Place for taking such good care of Mom.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2026.
