Although it is a sad moment, Eve, as fondly called by family and friends, passed away on November 23, 2025 from natural causes.
As a strong willed and independent woman, Eve at 97 years of age remained in her residential home. Totally self-sufficient, she cooked and cleaned her house (it was spotless) until her very last day.
Eve was predeceased by her husband Bill and son Nick. She was predeceased by her siblings, Nat, Anne, Stella and Jack. Among those remaining are her son Rick (Valdine); her granddaughter Susan (Giacomo) and great- grandchildren, Gabriele and Sofia; and her granddaughter Jillian (Richard) and great-grandchild Everett.
She was proudly a stay-at-home mother who cared deeply in raising her children with good values. This strong devotion to family extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Needless to say, she was a very special person to all she touched in life.
Her greatest pleasure was tending to her garden in the backyard of her home. It was a huge space filled with a variety of vegetables she harvested from May to September for 70 years. Her passion never diminished.
Mentally sharp to the very end, Eve devoured the daily Winnipeg Free Press. She watched TV consuming local, national and international news. In garnering this insight and knowledge, she was prepared to discuss and debate issues with anybody who would listen.
She was a huge sports fan who watched all games of her beloved Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. And she would heap praise on players who played well but in case of losses and poor play, her opinions could be quite vociferous in calling out players.
As per Eve's wishes, a funeral will not take place. A private service will be held at a later date.
Although she has passed, Eve has one last adventure remaining in her journey and "Farewell Tour" of Canada.
Mom (Baba) you led a wonderful life bringing special moments to us all. May you find heavenly joy and peace whether gardening in the sunshine or dancing under the moonlight with Gigi. Rest well. Adieu XOXO
