RONALD CORNELL HANUSHCHAK

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ron on December 6, 2025 at the age of 90. Ron was husband to June; father to Karen Hanushchak-Williamson, Rhonda Giesbrecht (Michael), Elaine Hanushchak; grandfather to Danika, Sydney, Milo, Makenzie and great-grandfather to Vaeda. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Stefan and Helen Hanushchak; brother Donald and sister Lesia.

Dad's love affair with music began at the age nine when an auntie took him to the symphony. Ron learned to play the violin, the drums and he loved to sing. Through the years he played with a band, "The Versatiles", for weddings, socials, bar mitzvahs and other occasions. Mom and dad married in 1959 and lived in Winnipeg until he retired from Manitoba Hydro after 38 years of service. They moved to their cottage on Lake Winnipeg for ten years participating in the Senior's Centre and enjoying friendships. In 2008, mom and dad moved to Kelowna, BC where he quickly became connected with the Old Timer Fiddlers. In retirement, Ron continued to be the taxi for anyone who needed a ride, always generous with his time and friendship to others. He was a lover of good food, saying "oh I'm stuffed" and then sneaking seconds. Dad was keenly interested in the stock market, constantly researching the latest stock to buy, and meticulously watching daily reports. Camera in hand, Dad took an inordinate amount of pictures of people, family gatherings and sunsets.
