GLORIA JEAN MCBRIDE
Date of Passing: Dec 24, 2025
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLORIA JEAN MCBRIDE
Suddenly, on December 24, 2025, Gloria Jean McBride passed away at the age of 79, with her husband, daughter, and son-in-law by her side.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Lillian Beck, her sister Lena, brother Wayne, and her son Ryan.
She'll be fondly remembered by Donald, her husband of 58 years; her daughter Krista (Mike) and daughter-in-law Rhonda; her brother Av; sisters, Ina, Norma, Barb, and Rosela (Verno); Donald's sisters, Judy, Nancy (Jim), Peggy, and Helen; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family across Canada.
Gloria was born and grew up in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland. She moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia as a young woman and there, she met Donald McBride, a handsome young sailor who asked her to dance. And dance they did, for over 60 years.
Gloria was a terrific cook and delighted in seeing you eat a full plate. She spoiled her family with yummy desserts, the fluffiest, most perfect popovers around, and her specialty, small savoury buns called "beer rogues". She was clever with her hands and loved to knit and crochet. She whipped up baby sets, mittens, socks, and even handmade dish clothes in the blink of an eye, from patterns long memorized.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friends so desire, a contribution can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Gloria.
A family gathering will take place at a later time.

Uncle Don, Krista and family, I was so very sad to hear of Aunt Gloria’s passing. I have memories from when you would come home to visit Nanny and I just loved all my mom’s sisters. They were such fun loving and beautiful ladies. I have memories of stopping in to see you all on our visits through Manitoba. Sending condolences and love to you all. As a young girl I have fond memories of my aunt Gloria from the Sunday visits when we’d all pull up and pile in and devour every candy in sight but my fondest memory is probably when I was there for sleepovers and she would polish my nails. It just felt so special . I so regret letting so many years slip by without seeing her, timing is so fleeting . Rest in peace Aunt Gloria. - Posted by: Jackie Marr (Niece) on: Jan 04, 2026
