JOHN LINDSAY MARRIN

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Lindsay Marrin, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Lindsay passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at the age of 93, with his son Stuart and daughter Joan by his side.

Born January 4, 1932, in Winnipeg, Lindsay was the oldest of five boys. Married in August 1953 he was a loving husband to Aline (deceased 2024) for 71 years and father to Gary (deceased 2009), Joan (Gerry) and Stuart (Gabrielle). Including immediate and blended family, he was grandfather to nine and great-grandfather to fourteen. His greatest love was family, and this love embraced nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.

Cremation has taken place. Interment and a Celebration of Life will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Winnipeg Foundation in his memory.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Extending our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the Marrin Family on the sad passing of J. Lindsay Marrin. For over 3 decades, your mom and dad were dear friends of the HSC Foundation. I was fortunate to meet them several years ago to thank them for their generosity. Dear souls. Sorry for your loss. • Dear Joan and Stuart, I am so sorry to read that your Dad has passed away. I have so many fun memories of our families camping together and visiting each other’s homes. Your Dad is a very special person and I am very grateful for the support he offered my Dad, Paul Lindsay, especially after my Mom died. • Our deepest condolences to Lindsay's family. Our thoughts are with you at this time of sadness. I only met Lindsay a couple of times through my parents Barrie (Lindsay's cousin) and Marlie O'Neill . Upon moving back to Winnipeg recently, I regret not being able to contact Lindsay after I learned of Aline's passing. Time has a way of going by too quickly. I would have loved to share family memories. My father Barrie spoke highly of Lindsay and I'm sure he had always wished time hadn't gone by so fast as he passed in 2006. Again, our thoughts are with you at this time. Cathy (O'Neill) and Ray Imlah - Posted by: Cathy O'Neill Imlah (2nd cousin) on: Jan 03, 2026
