It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, papa, great-grandfather, Wallace (Keith) Barber on December 23, 2025 at the age of 94.
Keith was predeceased by his wife Myrtle and brother Walter. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Marlene (Ron) Oige and Cheryl (Russ) Morrow; grandchildren, Jenny (Andrew) Tait, Chris Oige, Matt McKillop, Kathy McKillop (Shayn); great-grandchildren, Kaiden McKillop, Mason Oige, Bailey Steinthorson, Tiberius, Yvette and Anastasia Tait. Also, mourning his loss is his sister, Myrt Bachiu. (Regina)
While living in Moose Jaw, Sk, Keith met his wife, Myrtle Jasky. Keith and his young family moved to Winnipeg in 1959 due to a promotion with CP Rail. Keith also worked part time for 45 years at Assiniboia Downs.
Keith was a competitive five pin bowler. He was a Canadian champion, a Western Canadian champion and held several records. His 278 high average in 1968-69 held the MB provincial record for 25 years. Keith represented SK or MB at the Western Canadian Five Pin Championships 22 times, also a record. Keith was a dedicated volunteer, earning Life Membership awards from both the Winnipeg and the Manitoba Five pin Bowling Associations.
A memorial service will be held at Grey Street United Church, corner of Grey and Sandhurst on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
