DOREEN MILDRED WIEBE

(nee HERZOG)

June 8, 1931 - January 28, 2026

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, granny, and oma, Doreen Wiebe, who passed away at the Beausejour Hospital, with family at her side, on January 28, 2026, at the age of 94.

She is predeceased by her first husband, John Wiebe, and her second husband Lorne Knopf. As well she is predeceased by her parents, Hulda and Ferdinand; her brothers, Albert, Oscar, Edgar, and Willie; her sisters, Florence, Edna, Rosie Howk, and Gloria Honkey.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Karen Sobetski, Ernie (Elaine) Wiebe; grandchildren, Jeff (Lori) Sobetski, Tammy Ryan (Douglas), Jason (Ryna) Wiebe and Grant (Melissa) Wiebe; great-grandchildren, Jordan Sobetski, Katlyne Sobetski, Jaida Wiebe, and Aubrey Wiebe.

Mom grew up in River Hill. She met the love of her life Johnnie who was working in the area with MTS. They were married on June 23, 1951. Together they had a few business ventures from a grocery store and chip stand to a bus line and finally the farm in Seven Sisters. This is where Mom was in her element. Gardening, tending to the animals and working in the field. She loved to cook and always had lunch on the table when company came. Travelling and camping in the motor home was something they enjoyed.

Family was very important to her, and she loved spending time with the grandkids. In 1992 she married Lorne. Together they spent countless hours playing the guitar and singing. If they weren’t doing this, you could find them on the Big Creek fishing. She loved to fish and was very competitive with it.

Mom moved to Beausejour in 2007. She enjoyed going to the Beau Head Centre, bingo at the Legion and volunteering at the hospital. At the age of 88, she was forced to retire due to COVID. In 2023 she moved to Stony Plains. She liked to participate in all the games and activities.

Many thanks to the staff at Stony Plains and Beausejour Hospital for all the care and compassion they showed towards our mother.

A Funeral Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 403 First Street N, Beausejour, MB on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with viewing one hour prior. Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON 1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Zion Lutheran Church, Box 968, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
