DONALD BARRETT
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Don Barrett on January 24, 2026, at the age of 69, following a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Janina; his children, Nikolas (Liliia) and Alexa (Shelby); and his grandchildren, Nina, Barrett, and Daciana.
A memorial service for Don will take place on February 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue, Winnipeg.

Donnie and I spent a lot of time together playing sports, going to socials, parties, and the bars (roadies for our band friends). He was a fun guy to spend time with and a solid friend. We lost touch over the years as Janina and Don started a family and I moved away. I cherish the lunch we had a year ago to catch up and say goodbye . Love you pal. So sorry to hear of his untimely passing. Don was one of my favourite people in high school - he was just so real, and such a pleasure to be around. So open and friendly - what you saw was what you got - not a pretentious bone in his body! And he had all the tools to make him a great basketball player!
