PHILIPPE DENIS LANDRY
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Philippe Denis Landry on January 31, 2026 at the age of 79. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family.
Phil will be sadly missed by his wife, Josie (nee Bielik), son Justin and daughter Jessica, siblings Yvonne Romaniuk (Dan-deceased), Roland (Angie) Landry, Annette Landry and Monique (Greg) Del Gallo. He will also be missed by his brothers-and sisters-in-law and many nephews, nieces, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Landry and Eugenie Jeanson, brother Luc Landry, brother-in-law Dan Romaniuk and numerous in-laws.
Phil was born November 24, 1946 in St. Boniface Hospital and grew up in Lorette on the family farm. He attended Lorette Collegiate along with Josie but they officially met at a social at Christ the King Hall in Winnipeg. They were married on August 18, 1973 and were devoted to each other for 52 years. Phil and Josie started their family in St. Vital before building their dream home on their property in Vermette. Phil took pride in his oasis beyond the city while raising his family.
Phil began his career as a Draftsman with Pritchard Engineering in 1967 and was hired at the Royal Canadian Mint in 1974. He acquired his Engineering Technician Certificate at the Manitoba Institute of Technology and was promoted to Engineering Projects Coordinator. He ended his career as Manager of Engineering before retiring in 2006 after 32 years of dedicated service. He was one of the world’s top experts on coin tooling and production.
Phil had a love for history, enjoyed classic cars, travelling, his morning exercise routine, biking, and golfing with his wife. He was very good at repairing anything and was affectionately known as the family handy man, always willing to be of help. He will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved his family immensely and was dedicated to everything he did.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 at St. Timothy’s Church, 135 John Forsyth Rd. Winnipeg, followed by a reception at the church hall. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
You had a good run, Phil. Your work on earth is done. Rest in Peace, until we meet again.
We would like to thank Cancer Care Manitoba, the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital, and the home care nurses who came to our home for their compassion and care.

We are very saddened to hear of Philippe’s passing, even though we knew of his sudden health issues in the last few months. Our friendship and good times memories with him goes back to the mid 60’s in Lorette. He was a fun-loving, gentle and always smiling friend. So sad that he had to leave us so soon.
