It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden death of Douglas Arthur Forsyth on January 25, 2026 at his home in Winnipeg at the age of 73.
Doug was born on June 20, 1952 in Eriksdale, MB to Arthur and Gladys Forsyth, the second of 4 children. Doug attended school in Eriksdale and later graduated from Red River College with a Business Administration Diploma.
He enjoyed playing hockey as a goal tender and played for the Red River College team. He also enjoyed playing baseball and spent some time coaching for his children’s teams. He volunteered as a firefighter, and at the rink in Sanford for many years.
He took over Eriksdale transfer from his father before starting his own construction company in 1984 where he still worked until his last days. He liked to go hunting and fishing, camping with family and travelling to places like Mexico and Costa Rica. He loved classic rock and still went to music festivals.
He is survived by and will be remembered by his children: Marnie (Rick) Engelberg and her mother Denise, Michelle Forsyth, Cindy (Dennis) Cruise, Doug (Erika) Forsyth and their mother Lorna; his sisters Shelley (Lyle) Sigfusson and Pat (Ken) Robinson; his grand-children: Darian (Matt), Emma (Tanner), Grace, Jenna, Ethan, Evelyn, Abigail, William, Joey, Lily, Anna and Julie; his great-grand-children: Damien, Keegan, and Noah, along with many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Lynn (Lorne) Boss, his nephew Derek Boss, and many other friends and family.
Thanks to all the first responders for their support.
At his request, there will be no funeral service.
