MAVIS EMBERLEY
In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mavis Emberley, aged 96, on January 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Mavis was predeceased by her husband, Donald; and her youngest son, Michael. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness that will be remembered by all who knew her.
Mavis is survived by her son Bruce Emberley (Diana); her daughters, Cathy Carsted (Frederick), and Linda Filiatrault. She was a proud grandmother to Ross Courtney-Emberley (Jessica), David Emberley (Kirsten), and Jeanine Filiatrault (Jordan Sanderson) providing much love, care and non-judgmental support. Her great-grandchildren Ivarr (three) and Everleigh (one) Courtney-Emberley will unfortunately not experience the love and support she gave all others in her life.
After all her children were in school full time, Mavis began a new career as a Home Child Care Provider for Child and Family Services in Winnipeg, providing daily, in-home care for children and families needing support for premature babies, newborns, multiple births, and children of all ages. She brought her supportive, personal family experience raising her four children to the homes of many families making a great difference in their lives.
The Emberley family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the dedicated staff at Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts, Harmony Court at Riverwood Square, and Riverview Health Centre for the compassion and care shown to Mavis during her illness. Your kindness will always be remembered.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Care Foundation or a charity of your choice in Mavis’ memory. Your support will help provide care and comfort to others facing similar challenges.
