Anastasia “Stacey” Shymchyk, aged 52, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Stacey was born and raised in Winnipeg and lived at home with her family for many years, lovingly cared for by her devoted parents. Later, she went on to live independently, with dignity and compassion, forming many meaningful connections with those around her.
Stacey showed remarkable strength, determination, and heart throughout her life, no matter the challenge. Though her speech was limited, she always found a way to be heard—by being uniquely “Stacey.” She brought joy and laughter to those around her through her honesty, humour, and strong spirit. She loved music, magazines, Three’s Company and her favourite foods.
She was predeceased by her father, Alex Shymchyk, and her brother, Michael Shymchyk. Stacey is lovingly remembered by her mother Sophie Shymchyk; sister Vera Shymchyk (Robert); Brayden and Sasha; aunt Tamara Minkevich (the late Walter); cousins Andy, Boris and John and by extended family, friends and dedicated caregivers.
The family is deeply grateful to the staff at St. Amant Centre, Trailblazers, and SCE Lifeworks for their compassionate care, kindness, and dedicated advocacy.
A Celebration of Stacey’s Life will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main Street).
Stacey will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her unforgettable spirit, resilience, and love.
