George passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 at Selkirk Regional Health Centre at the age of 92. He was the longest living member of the Heath family.
George leaves behind his wife Nancy of 21 years (nee Guss) and her children, Cheryl (Brian), Carla (Tony), Cathy and Charlene and her grandchildren, Desmond, Bryce, Brendan, Madison and Quinten and her great-grandchildren.
George was predeceased by his first wife of 44 years, Phyllis (nee Gray), and his youngest daughter Marilyn and leaves behind his children, Gordon (Diana), Alison, and Brian (Bonnie) and grandchildren, Curtis, Mitchell, Laurel, Olivia, Nicole, Justin, Sydney, and Morgan and his great-grandchildren.
George grew up in the West End of the City of Winnipeg, attending Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre Schools. He moved to St. James where he raised his family.
George retired from the City of Winnipeg Fire Department in 1991 after 31 years of service, reaching the rank of Captain. He also enjoyed working side jobs as a painter.
Upon retirement, George moved to a home on the golf course in Sandy Hook, MB where he was active in golf and curling.
When George married Nancy in 2005 he became a wonderful stepdad to her children. He enjoyed his life with Nancy in Winnipeg Beach playing cards, bowling, golfing and had many happy times with their combined family and friends.
We would like to thank the staff and patrons of Roxi’s Uptown Cafe who provided help to George, the paramedics and caregivers at Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Firefighter's Burn Fund.
A memorial for George will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Winnipeg Beach Legion, Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba.
