GRETA PENNER
Suddenly, at the age of 92, Greta Penner, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt passed away, after a brief stay at St. Boniface Hospital, on February 10, 2026.
An avid reader, Greta enjoyed watching curling and gathering observations about the world and people around her. A life-long walker, she had a deep appreciation for nature, its creatures, nights lit by a full moon, and thunderstorms. Her fearless curiosity was impressive and inspiring. For much of her life, she, along with her beloved husband, operated Penndale Nursery on Hazelridge Road. In retirement, Greta devoted herself to volunteer work, teaching recent immigrants to Canada English speaking and writing skills. Her life was a constant example of kindness, patience, and fortitude. She will be much missed by all who knew her.
Greta was predeceased by her loving husband Jake and her eldest son Ronald. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Audrey (Jack), Greg (Ximena) and David (Jacklyn); seven grandchildren: David (Colleen), Karina (Ian), Kris (Wendy), Eli (Sylvie), LP (Dale), Nathan, and Benjamin; and five great-grandchildren: Brandon (Abbigal), Nico, Owen, Esther and Iver. Her niece Lana, and dear friends Evan and Arlie Schulz, were tremendous sources of support and affection.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cathedrale Manor, with special appreciation for Rhonda and Angel.
A Graveside service for the immediate family will be held in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
