Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPatricia Regnier
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Patricia Régnier, who peacefully left us at the age of 91.
Born to Gaspard DesLauriers and Émilie Robidoux, Patricia grew up on the family farm along Lido Plage Road in what was also called "le p'tit Canada." She often shared fond memories of the one-room schoolhouse, the nearby store and dance hall, swimming in the Assiniboine River, skating in winter, and ferry rides across the river to attend church and high school in Saint-François-Xavier. It was during one of those crossings that she met a charming young man, Maurice Régnier. They married on July 30, 1953, beginning a lifelong love story.
Together they farmed in the heart of the village, raising six children. Patricia had a remarkable gift for transforming a very modest farmhouse into a warm and welcoming home. From her gardens, livestock, pies, and fresh bread came meals that nourished a rambunctious household of five boys and a precious daughter. She also worked tirelessly alongside Maurice in the barns and fields, especially during seeding and harvest.
As her children grew, Patricia devoted time to volunteering, helping establish "Le club d'âge d'or" for seniors in the community and also contributing to organizations in Winnipeg. Later, she cherished her role as grandmother and great-grandmother, creating treasured memories with sleepovers, stories, and farm adventures.
Guided by deep faith, generosity, and quiet strength, she was the heart of our family.
Predeceased by her parents, her beloved son Richard and grandson Daniel, her sister Rita (Nicholas), and her brother Gérald (Juliette), Patricia leaves to mourn her devoted husband Maurice; her children Gilles (Julie), Normand (Monique), Guy (Deborah), Suzanne (Dave), Alain, and Kate; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her siblings René, Doreen (Gilles), Edna (Archie), and Irène (Eugene); along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held March 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of choice.
Rest in peace, Maman –
avec tout notre amour.
