Doug, We didn’t know you were going but the last time I saw you, when I cut your hair, I could feel your sadness, that you were ready. You had missed your wife Maisy dearly for so long. The day you passed it was almost like I could hear the whistle and hear you and your dog Inky, playing again. I know you’re finally with Maisy and Inky. Tell them we say hi! I’ll never forget your kindness when I moved to Winnipeg and you became my friend right away, when I found everyone and everything else not so friendly. You loved to chat about your wife Maisy, your 3 daughters and several grandchildren! I loved hearing the stories of your mom and dad and the horses you would run at the track where Polo Park is. When I was having a rough day, we would talk and you would always say, “onward and forward Jackie.” You were a true friend to me, Rob and Paige and a true animal lover. You were always so kind to all animals and to my family. Everytime I spoke you asked me how my daughter was. You were 94 but acted like you were 20. I’m sure it was the Tai chi you did every morning or your daily walks. We’ll miss you dearly my friend and the best neighbour in the world!!! Rest easy Gump, you did good. - Posted by: Jackie, Rob and Paige (Friend) on: Mar 01, 2026
