MICHAEL SIGURDSON
With sorrow, the family of Michael Sigurdson announces his peaceful passing on February 22, 2026, with loved ones at his side.
Mike is predeceased by his parents, Karl and Hannelore. He leaves to mourn brothers, Karl (Donna), and Chris (Dawn); and sisters, Anne (David Bocking), and Barbara; nieces, Emily, Sarah, Megan, and Jordan (Logan); nephews, Graham, Benjamin (Jaelan), and Nicholas; grand-nieces, Freya and Runá; and grand-nephews, Leo and Henry.
Mike was a devoted uncle who cherished spending time with his family and loved sharing stories of their antics.
He worked at the Birchwood/Holiday Inn for 40 years and is remembered fondly by staff, guests and regulars. His playful wit and prankish sense of humour were always at the ready. The family is deeply indebted to the staff and management for their unwavering support throughout Mike’s illness.
As a longtime member of the Teulon Golf and Country Club, Mike played, volunteered and/or marshalled at every opportunity.
Many thanks to Mike’s friends, golf buddies and coworkers who messaged and/or visited during his long illness. Mike fought hard against his illness, choosing to continue treatments right until his final days.
The family would like to extend their profound appreciation to the staff at the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion during his stay. Thanks also to CancerCare Manitoba for their ongoing support.
According to Mike’s wishes, no service will be held. His ashes will be interred in the family plot in Elfros, Saskatchewan later this spring. In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
