CHARLOTTE WERNER, PHD


Charlotte Werner, PhD, artist, author, and University professor (School of Art, retired) passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, at the age of 81.

She lived her full life with a compassionate heart and creative mind. Charlotte’s youth was spent in Canora, SK with her parents and brother, she enjoyed her small-town Saskatchewan life. She later moved for education purposes and career opportunities. She was dedicated to sharing her knowledge with others, including as an Associate Professor at the U of M. Her true passion throughout her life was art and music. Her artworks draw you in close to examine the fine details and subject matter. Her ethereal compositions and lyrics hold emotions and imagination for the listener. Her travels for research and pleasure took her around the world.

Charlotte was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Oswald Werner, and her brother Norman. She leaves to mourn nieces, Karen and Colleen, four great nieces, family, friends and anyone whom her life touched.
