Shirley was born to Jacob and Mary Braun in Morris MB June 22,1938.

The family moved from Kane to Lowe farm where she attended school.

The youngest of nine siblings she grew up singing hymns with her sisters and her love of music remained throughout her life.

Shirley had a rare gift for friendship, maintaining a bond with her grade 1 friends, Cathy and Mildred, for over eighty years.

She moved to Winnipeg with her sister and two friends and took a position at MTS as a telephone operator. In 1956 Shirley married Lawrence Miller and began her family.

While working for Tupperware, she studied Business Administration at Red River College and served as office manager for 16 years. She formed a lifelong friendship with her coworker Hilda who became an important person in her life upon returning to Manitoba.

She spent many happy summers with her niece Mryna, who became a dear part of the household going to drive-ins and eating ice cream.

In 1981 Mom was introduced to Jim Dalgleish. Their marriage led her to Flin Flon and later to retirement in 1988 to Abbotsford, BC. Shirley continued to attend Eastern Star, Shrine functions, singing in choirs, golfing, sewing and playing bridge.

After Jim Passed away in 2010, Mom at 72 years of age moved back to Winnipeg. She was always proud to say, “she lived in sunny St James.”

Mom strived to provide a safe and loving environment and changed the trajectory of our lives.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on March 6 at 10:00 a.m., Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave, Wpg.
