Arvelle Marie Slawson (nee Barber) passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the age of 90 years.
Arvelle was born and raised in Maryfield, SK, the youngest of five children. She married Murray Slawson in 1954, and together they had four children. The family moved to Brandon in 1969. She was a full time homemaker and a wonderful mother, spending countless hours supporting her children at hockey rinks and ball parks.
Arvelle joined the work force after becoming an empty nester, working for over 20 years as a Nurse’s Aide at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home, where she developed some of her closest friends.
Arvelle was predeceased by her parents William and Inez Barber; husband Murray; brothers Graeme, Russell (Shirley) and Murray (Marnie); brother-in-law Ron and children Carmen Michelle and Rodney Ray. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Lois Friesen; sisters-in-law Edy and Joan, children Rick (Dana) and Randy (Vera), daughter-in-law Sheila, former daughter-in-law Susan and her four grandchildren Jamie, Michael, Brianne and Cari.
Interment will take place this summer in Maryfield, SK.
