GORDON WOODHALL SR.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gordon Woodhall Sr. announce his passing on Monday, March 9, 2026. Gordon passed peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by family, at the age of 95.

Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 73 years, Shirley (née Gordon) and his children, Gordon A. (Carol) and Kimberly B. (Lawrence) Obsniuk.

He was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Alec, and his siblings, Agnes, Violet, Robert, Wilfred, Gertrude and Ralph.

Gordon will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Gordon D. (Adrienne), Michael J. (Michelle), Jaclynn (Richard), Michael Lee, Keith (Katelyn), and Trent; and by his great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Mya, Dean (Hayden), Olivia, Harrison, Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Born in Winnipeg, MB and raised in Woodlands, Gordon developed the strong work ethic and quiet determination that would guide him throughout his life. As a young man, he moved to Toronto where he opened his own construction business, earning a reputation for hard work and integrity.

Gordon later returned to Winnipeg where he continued his career as a talented journeyman with the Wood, Wire and Metal Lathers’ International Union. His dedication to the trade led him to Red River College, where he took great pride in teaching and mentoring the next generation.

Alongside his beloved Shirley, Gordon proudly operated Gordon’s Services for more than 45 years. Together they built not only a successful business, but a lasting legacy of commitment, perseverance and service.

Gordon was also an active member of the Freemasons of Winnipeg and served on the boards of the Wildwood and the Transcona Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed golfing in the summers and curling in the winters and valued the friendships and camaraderie those pursuits brought into his life.

Above all, Gordon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, strong and steady leader whose humility, kindness and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be remembered as a remarkable man whose legacy lives on through his family and the many lives he touched.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Concordia Hospital, and Concordia Place for their care and compassion.

On behalf of the Woodhall family, thank you for your kind words, generosity, and support as we say goodbye to an incredible man. We know Gordon is enjoying the 19th hole right now. Cheers Gordon.

Celebration of Life will be held at Transcona Golf Club, 2120 Dugald Rd, Wpg on Saturday, March 21, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
