BARRY NICHOLAS HOLE

November 3, 1946 - February 6, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Nicholas Hole on February 6, 2026, in Parksville, British Columbia, following a courageous battle with cancer. Barry was a man of quiet strength, deep integrity, and a lifelong commitment to helping others.

Born in Bridgwater, Somerset, England, Barry mastered his trade as a plumber and pipefitter under his mentor and lifelong friend, Anthony Innals. In 1975, Barry immigrated to Winnipeg, where he excelled as the Service Manager for Daplex Plumbing and Heating. He was widely respected as a master of his craft - a man truly deserving of the trust placed in him. Barry eventually retired to the beauty of Parksville in 2012.

In his personal life, Barry was known for his soft-spoken nature and his willingness to step up whenever someone was in need. To know Barry was to know a man who led by example, proving that a "shining light" is often found in simple acts of service. While quiet, he possessed a fierce competitive fire. He was a fixture at the pool table and a competitive dart player at the Charleswood Legion. However, it was his "sneaky" nature as a card player that people will remember most; he had a knack for finding clever ways to frustrate opponents with a sharp mind and quiet wit.

Barry's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Marilyn; children, Ashley (Kate), Shaun (Dee), and Sheri (Jamie); and seven grandchildren. He also leaves behind siblings, David, Angela and John (his twin). He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Brian.

Per Barry's wishes, there will be no formal service. Private Celebrations of Life will be held in Parksville (TBD) and Winnipeg (July 18, 2026). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

  • Our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Hole. He was such a kind man with a warm heart and gentle nature... always made us feel very comfortable. He will be missed. Holding all of you in our hearts. Love the Jacksons - Posted by: Candace (Friend) on: Mar 23, 2026

  • Dear Marilyn, Ashley, Shaun, Sheri and family. I was so sorry to hear of Barry's passing, our sincere condolences to you all as you remember the legacy he has left you all. Barry was like family for me (as were you all) growing up in Winnipeg, - as we were all transplants from England. His quiet competence was ever present, no complaint, no fanfare, just steady and directional. He will be sorely missed. “I don't want my life to be defined by what is etched on a tombstone. I want it to be defined by what is etched in the lives and hearts of those I've touched.” By Steve Maraboli Warmest regards, Lee & Rachel Barringer - Posted by: LEE BARRINGER (Friend) on: Mar 22, 2026
