Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR ERNEST STUBBINGS
Victor Ernest Stubbings passed away in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on March 12, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. At his side were his loving daughter Vicki and son-in-law Ken. He will also be remembered with endless love and respect by his son Randall (Holly) and grandsons Adam (Lucia), Jason, and Travis (Nick). He is also survived by brothers Butch (Lois) and Thomas, by sisters Lynne (George) and Susan, and several nieces and nephews. Victor was predeceased by Myrna (nee Purkis), his beloved wife of 54 years, by his son Daniel (at age 3), by his parents (George and Marion), and by his sister Anne.
"Pops" was very proud of his family and greatly enjoyed times spent with his grandsons. A visit to Disneyland with Adam and golfing at Banff Springs with Jason and Travis were especially memorable. Christmas every second year was always a special occasion as all the family would gather in Winnipeg to celebrate this special time of year.
After a brief stint sailing on the "lakers" on the Great Lakes, he joined CP Express in Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay) in 1957. He worked in various positions and departments in Thunder Bay, Vancouver, and Winnipeg, where he retired in 1996 as Manager of Sales for the Prairie Region. He was quite active in the transportation community and served as president of both the Thunder Bay and Winnipeg transportation clubs. He also served as chairman for National Transportation Week in 1993. He curled for many years out of the St. Vital Curling Club and was an active member of the St. Boniface Golf Club for over 40 years. Victor was a strong supporter of Canadian Blood Services, having made over 100 donations. If he is to be remembered for only one thing, he would have it be how much he loved Myrna.
Respecting his wishes, a private family ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to any children's charity would be respectfully appreciated.

Victor and I met at the worst time, obviously in rehab clinic at HSC. I had just got moved there after having a major surgery and as the nurse at the time rolled me around the area to show me all the rooms kind of thing. As he rolled by Victor's room he said that's the room you want to get into. But then 2 days later I was in that room, Victor and Pam let me cried out the first day and then the second day they both called me to come out of my bed and I rolled out on my wheelchair. " Come on out, stop crying" I came out and we had great conversation. Victor reminded me of my uncle's or Grandpa. It felt at home in a strange way. I felt like I could relate and have conversations with Victor on his personality. Felt like I grew up around guys like him in a way. Just good to the heart and straight up down to earth. Being from the east coast in New Brunswick and living in Manitoba and having a relearn to walk made humongous different. Having Victor to be with me and be there beside me. We were supposed to meet up before we on Christmas and it didn't happen which is too bad but at the same time I remember Victor as that man that just had so much life to share and give. I'm lucky to say I consider Victor my friend. Thanks Vic you you made a difference in my life and I've told some people about you that are special to me so that definitely makes you special to me as well sir. God bless. Rest easy until we meet again. Save me a shot of whiskey up there when I get there . ( I don't drink but I'll have one with you brother) Soon as heard you wrote a book I purchased a copy. My deepest sympathies to the family. I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated his friendship in a difficult time for both of us. I believe he is walking through his next journey with his beloved wife on one arm and a large glass of scotch in the other hand, smiling at the dogs chasing behind. - Posted by: Pamela Diaczun (Friend) on: Mar 21, 2026
