It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Raymonde Collette Marius (née Gagné) on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Action Marguerite St Vital (Foyer Valade) at the age of 92.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Louise (Alain), Lorraine (Robert), Larry (Louise), Hélène (Glen) and Claire (Don); 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her brother John (Liz); sisters, Denise (Roger) and Suzanne; as well as numerous other family members.
Raymonde was predeceased by her husband Louis; parents, Albert Gagné and Claire Nogue; her brother Marcel; brother and sister-in-law Claude and Anita Gagné; sister and brother-in-law Louise and Jerry Devigne; sister and brother-in-law Thérèse and Gerry Tremblay and brother in-law Ron Nelson.
Raymonde was born in Montreal on September 22, 1933, to her parents, Albert and Claire Gagné. When she was young, her family relocated to St Boniface where she attended l’Académie St Joseph. It is in St Boniface where she met the love of her life, her husband Louis. They married on August 1, 1953, and together they celebrated 67 years of marriage before Louis’ passing in 2020.
Raymonde loved to share stories about the jobs she held in office administration/customer service and the places she worked at in her lifetime: CP Rail, St Boniface Cathedral, Eaton’s, Victor’s Wholesale (a Marius family business), St Malo Hotel (as part owner with Louis) and Albert Beach Drive-Inn (as co-owner with good friend Jeanette). Raymonde was also very proud of and recognized for her 40 plus years and 1000 plus Rh plasma donations through Red Cross/Cangene. She saved many lives through her Rh plasma donations.
In retirement, Raymonde and Louis loved to spend summers at their cottage at Albert Beach and their winters in Arizona, and in the later years, Penticton. They enjoyed the warm weather, the social activities and the friendships they made there. Raymonde especially enjoyed the community activities of dance, ceramics, arts and crafts. Raymonde made instant connections and had many lifelong friends.
Above all, Raymonde was a devoted and loving wife, mother and “grand-mère” who will be dearly missed. She was patient, caring and kind. Her smile would light up a room, and her laughter was infectious, genuine and triggered laughter in others. She loved making every celebration special and had a knack for being creative and for entertaining, decorating, cooking and planning games. Raymonde loved all sorts of games, but mostly card games and especially cribbage, which she played to the very end.
“You were the best, most caring mom! You will forever hold a special place in our hearts! We love you!”
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Résidence Despins and Action Marguerite St Vital for the wonderful care and support given to Raymonde.
Cremation has taken place and a private funeral mass celebrating her life will occur at a later date.
