EVELYN SCHOFFER

(nee COLLINS)

August 10, 1932 - March 11, 2026

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Jerry, as well as her beloved son and grandson, Larry and Cory Schoffer. Evelyn leaves her remaining family to cherish her memories: Her loving daughters, Linda Schoffer, who was her caretaker before she entered Oakview Extendicare, and Wendy Wheeler (Ric); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Melanie Hasenheit Bender (Travis) - Chase and Claire Bender, Scott Wheeler (Ainsley) - Abigail and Wesley Wheeler, Shannon Ingram (Chris) - Matthew and Shayne Ingram, Sean Schoffer (Whitney) - Hannah and Lucy Schoffer, and daughter-in-law Debbie Schoffer - Naomi Schoffer.

Evelyn was born in Ridgeville, Manitoba, where she lived on the family farm with her parents, Mary and Tom Collins, and her siblings, Florence, Hazel. and Neil. She loved to sing, play baseball, and curl. She also learned how to cook, bake, and sew, as her mother passed at a young age, this prepared her when she married Jerry. We all loved those homemade breads and pies. She was a wonderful, and loving mother, and caring friend. She loved decorating her homes and loved painting many beautiful pictures. After raising three children, she got to do it all again with Cory. She loved her family very much and wanted us to take care of each other, and she would walk beside us everyday!

We would like to extend our appreciation to the kind and caring staff on 3rd floor at Oakview Extendicare.

  • I love my mom so much. We had a very special relationship. I lived with her for six years as her caregiver. Mom went through a lot in the last couple of years. It was time for her to go to be with my dad, brother & son. She was tired. - Posted by: Linda (Daughter) on: Mar 25, 2026
