LYNNE TAILLEFER

June 29, 1947 – March 12, 2026

Lynne Laura Rannveig Taillefer (née Magnusson), age 78, passed away peacefully at her home in St-Norbert, Manitoba. She was born June 29, 1947, in Hnausa, to Kristjana and Albert Magnusson.

Lynne was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Jean-Marie Taillefer, and her son, Stéphane Taillefer. She leaves behind her son Gilles Taillefer; her daughter and son-in-law Paulette Taillefer and Dave Edwards; her grandchildren Zoé, Émilie, Anik and Dax; her brother and sister-in-law Larry and Nicole Magnusson; her nephew Eric Magnusson; and many dear friends and family members.

Lynne's early years in Hnausa, in a modest home across from Lake Winnipeg, were filled with family, community, and simple joys. She was actively involved in 4-H and spent time helping at the Magnusville General Store, owned by her parents. After graduating from Riverton Collegiate, she moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba.

Lynne started her teaching career in La Broquerie, where she met Jean-Marie. They were married in 1970 and first made a home in St-Norbert with their three children before building a house near St-Adolphe where they would spend the next 30 years. Lynne and Jean-Marie returned to St-Norbert for their final years.

Lynne's patience and supportive nature made her a wonderful teacher. She taught for over 30 years in schools in and around Winnipeg. The highlight of her career were her years as a resource teacher working one on one with her students. Summers off were a time for adventure that brought Lynne and her family on road trips all over North America. In retirement, Lynne and Jean-Marie enjoyed 14 winters in Mexico, among many of their Manitoba friends.

Lynne enjoyed travel, reading, learning, and spending time with loved ones. Reading the newspaper with a black coffee in hand and hosting weekly family dinners were cherished occasions for Lynne. She will be remembered for her loving thoughtfulness and quiet strength. Lynne will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Lynne's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Norwood Hotel in Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Francofonds to the Stéphane Taillefer fund supporting organizations that benefit Mental Health and Wellness.
