It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Gilchrist, who left us suddenly at Victoria General Hospital on March 23, 2026, in her 94th year. Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and spirit touched the lives of everyone around them.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at The Meadows Retirement Residence. The kindness and care they showed made mom feel truly welcomed into their community since she moved there in December 2025. Their support and compassion brought her much comfort in her final months.
Mom has now joined Dad in the "meadow in the sky" where we know they are together once again. While her absence leaves a profound void, we take comfort in the love and memories she shared with all of us.
At Mom's request, there will be no service. Thank you all for your kindness and support during this time.

I was very sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. I have such fond memories of your parents, who were friends of my own parents, Morris and Helen. Having spent time in Mesa myself, I often thought of them—my mom would point out their park years ago, and it always stayed with me. I also remember hearing about their move to the golf course after retirement, and my mom kept me up to date on the family life events over the years.
