RYAN MYMKO

February 9, 1984 - February 17, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Ryan Scott Mymko on February 17, 2026, at the age of 42. A man of exceptional intelligence and even greater kindness, Ryan’s life was defined by his devotion to his family and his unwavering commitment to helping others.

Born in Winnipeg on February 9, 1984, Ryan spent his youth fuelled by a passion for hockey. From the Community Club level to Triple A, he was a fixture on the ice—a sport that shaped his disciplined and team-oriented nature. After graduating from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Commerce, Ryan moved to Vancouver to begin a successful career in commodity trading. Whether at Powerex or Morgan Stanley, he was a highly respected colleague who eventually earned the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

While Ryan excelled in the financial world, his true calling was rooted in service. After years at Morgan Stanley, he made the courageous choice to pivot careers to follow his heart. He earned his Master’s degree from Yorkville University and founded Stellar Counselling, where he flourished as a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Ryan dedicated his practice to supporting children, youth, and their families, making a profound and lasting impact on the lives of those he touched.

To know Ryan was to know his smile—genuine, contagious, and capable of lighting up any room. He was a man who found order in the world through spreadsheets; whether it was complex work data, hockey stats, or family finances, Ryan could (and would) turn anything into a perfectly organized column.

He was a man of action and energy, recently completing his first marathon, a testament to his determination. He loved to cook for his loved ones and was a master planner, curating epic family vacations where he could watch his children experience the wonders of the world.

Above all his professional and personal achievements, Ryan’s greatest role was that of a father and husband. He was absolutely everything to his 10-year-old twins, Kate and Asher. As a father, he was playful, compassionate, and deeply present. As a husband to Erin, he was a pillar of strength—the most thoughtful, supportive, and loving partner imaginable. He was the unshakable cornerstone of his family’s world.

Ryan’s legacy of generosity lives on through his volunteer work with Big Brothers and the scholarship he sponsored at his former high school, ensuring other students could experience the world as he did.

He is survived by his loving wife, Erin; his cherished children, Kate and Asher; his parents, Barry and Sue Mymko; his sisters, Janelle, Shyloh, and Shelby; his niece, Boston; his Grandma Isabelle, and his parents-in-law, Don and Sandy Colclough. He will be missed beyond measure by his extended family, colleagues, and the many friends who were lucky enough to know him.

A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held on April 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Hammond Hall in Maple Ridge, BC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donating in Ryan’s memory to Big Brothers of Canada or United24, two organizations that reflect his spirit of giving and his desire to help those in need.
