DARCY BAKER
That man is a success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much. (Robert Louis Stevenson)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darcy Baker on April 20, 2026. Darcy was born in the small town of St. Martin, lived most of his life in Winnipeg, but maintained his ties to the country through the cottage at Maple Beach. He will be sadly missed by his wife Connie, daughter Rhonda, son Dean and grandchildren, Nolan, Max, and Spencer (Veronica) and great-granddaughter Athena as well as step-great-grandchildren, Keenan and Penelope. Darcy is also survived by his two sisters, Sharyn (Kris) and Lorraine - predeceased by his two brothers, Sylvan and Dennis and his sister Cheryle.
Darcy was a jack of all trades - schooled in electrical, but skilled in carpentry, mechanics, car restoration, etc. He was very generous with his time and knowledge. If anybody needed help he was there - willing to help and to teach. Darcy and Connie greatly enjoyed their retirement since 2008 - travelling a lot, ballroom dancing, spending time with their many friends. Golfing was another of Darcy’s biggest loves. He always lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for his terrific sense of humour and fun.
A special thank you to Dean’s friends, Jake, K.C., Winston, and Rob for being there until the end and for including Darcy in the many poker games throughout the years, the only old guy in the group.
The family would like to thank CancerCare and the Riverview Health Centre for their excellent care. If donations are being considered, those two organizations warrant consideration.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date.

Darcy was always around with a smile and help. He repaired a mast on our cottage, dressed in overalls ready to help, folks at Maple Beach will sorely miss him. Always a gentleman and a force to be reckoned with in horseshoes and lawn darts. Was a pleasure to play cards with him and hang by the lake. See you again.... - Posted by: Ttacy (Friend) on: May 14, 2026
