EGIDIO GENTILE

With saddened hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Egidio Gentile, with family by his side, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 90.

Egidio was the beloved husband of the late Antonia Gentile, and a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be forever cherished and deeply missed by his loving children: Rosa (Decio) Vacchio, Agapito (Angela) Gentile, Pina (Mark) Mandzik, Teresa Senden (Christian); his grandchildren Nicole, Lorenzo, Erica, Simone, Bauer, Parker, Isaiah, and Samuel.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends in Canada and Italy.

Egidio was predeceased by his beloved wife Antonia, his parents, and his siblings Pierina, Maria Egilda, Antonio and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Egidio was born in Scanno, Italy, and immigrated to Canada in June 1967. Family was the heart of his life. He and Antonia created a warm and loving home, and together they built a legacy rooted in love, faith, and togetherness. He enjoyed gardening, bocce, card games, and wine making, and especially cherished time spent with family and friends. He was a proud member of the Gruppo Alpini of Winnipeg for many years. Egidio will be remembered for his strong work ethic, family values, and preserving his Italian culture. His Italian sausages were enjoyed by many and the family tradition of making sausages will be carried on. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Holy Rosary Parish on May 8, 2026. Condolences begin at 10:00 a.m., funeral at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens.
