It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Kananowicz. He left us quietly in the night after a short illness. A lifelong bachelor he was beloved by brothers, sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Kossow Poleski, Poland in 1940, he arrived in Canada in his teens, due to the generous sponsorship of his sisters Irene and Stefa. Canada gave him the opportunity to become a successful electrician and property manager. A consummate worker, he was renovating houses until illness forced him to stop. He always wanted to die with his construction boots on, and thankfully he almost did.
Most of his siblings - Joseph, Stefa, and Albert have passed, but he will be remembered with a lifetime of stories by his sister Irene, and his nieces and nephews. His cousins Josef and Ignac Kostusik as well as Antonia Kananowicz have many fond memories of him as well.
A celebration of life will take place in the future.
