HAZEL WEBSTER

Hazel Webster, beloved wife, sister, mom, grandma and great-grandma passed away on March 5, 2026, at the Souris Personal Care Home with her daughter Lorraine by her side. She was just 26 days shy of her 100 birthday.

Hazel was born in 1926 and was the youngest of seven children born to James and Mary Barlow. She was born, raised and lived in Souris her whole life, which was something she was very proud of. She was always a strong supporter and cheerleader for her town.

She worked in the Royal Bank in Souris until she married the love of her life, Elmer Webster, in 1949 and together they raised two daughters and established an electrical business that was well known in the Souris area for over 30 years.

As well as being an integral part of their business and raising two daughters, Hazel became a very active member of St Paul’s United Church after her and Dad married. She was a member of the church choir for many years, and her musical talents also included playing the church organ and piano at many weddings, funerals and church services whenever she was needed.

Hazel was predeceased by her parents, James and Mary Barlow and her devoted husband Elmer, her siblings Percy, Colin (Marion), Nelson (Lila), Ernie (Bernice), Olive Clubley (Morris), and Isabel Brindle (Harry) and her in-laws, Arthur and Alice Webster and brothers-in-law Howard Webster (Melita) and Wilbert Webster (Mary).

Hazel is survived by and her memory cherished by her daughters Lorraine (Forbes) and Kathy (Marcel), her grandchildren: Brett (Jessica), Jesse (Jacy), Erin (Marinus), Kyle (Stephanie) and Troy (Carly) and her great-grandchildren: Aubree, Graham, Ella, Finley, Corbin, Taggart, Sigrid, Benjamin, Josephine and Lilah. She is also survived by one sister-in-law Bernice Barlow (Ernie) and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to extend our appreciation to the staff of Souris Personal Care Home for their wonderful care and compassion given to Mom since she joined you. Thank you also to Dexter and Kowalchuk’s Funeral Home for your knowledgeable and caring service.

A private interment will be held at the Souris-Glenwood Cemetery. A public reception will be held at the King Edward Room of the Souris Hotel for anyone wishing to attend on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
