Andries (Andy) Wesselius passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Brandon Assiniboine Centre, at the age of 96.
Andries was born in 1930, in the Netherlands, to Jeremias Wilhelmus Wesselius and Janneke Jannigje de Blaeij. He was raised in Oude Wetering and immigrated to Canada in 1954. He was married to Maria (Mary) Malipaard on October 18, 1958, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Brandon, where they remained members until their passing. There is a lifetime of friendship with his church family, and we appreciate they provided over the years.
Andries was predeceased by Maria (Mary) in November 2023, after 65 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his parents; his brothers Carel, Dirk, Cees, Bill and Henk, and his sister Catharina.
He is survived his five children, Jerry (Valerie), John (Tina), Jennefer (Gene), Ken (Sue) and Cathy (Allan); grandchildren, Brian, Tyler, Ashley, Amanda, Geoffrey, Corinna, Samantha, Breanne, Josh, Randy, Jade, Alexis and Sara; and great-grandchildren, Maviana, Averie, Kai, Scarlett, Wyatt, Jack, Hunter, Eli, Brian Jr., Kennedy, Sienna, Gunnar and Kali. He is also survived by his brother Gerardus in the Netherlands, sister-in-law Dian in Brandon, and extended family in the Netherlands and Canada.
A celebration of Andy’s life will take place Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Brandon.
The family would like to extend thanks the staff of Ward 3 at Assiniboine Centre.
