JEAN BURAK
With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mother and Baba on Saturday May 9, 2026.
Jean was born in 1936 at Sarto, MB where she attended her elementary school, and went to high school in Ridgeville, Winnipeg, and Steinbach. In 1958 she married Walter Burak of Lorette, where they raised their family and farmed for 45 years. In 2003, Walter passed away and Jean moved to Winnipeg.
Left to mourn are her daughter Carol Huys, son Robert (Irene) Burak, granddaughters Kayla (Nolan) and Kacey, brother-in-law Peter Burak, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Walter, brothers James, Michael, and Peter Romaniuk, sisters Joyce Melnychuk, Mary Stupack, and Helen Letwinetz, and parents Dmytro and Anna (nee Wyryha) Romaniuk.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 20, at Green Acres Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery.

When i first met Jean n Walter they open thier arms n took me in that was in 1988 n I was hooked they treated me as one of thier own. They were my family. My heart is full of love n sadness . She will be so missed by so many people, she touch a lot of hearts. Now she with the love of your life may they mow rest in peace as they are now whole once again. We did not know this beautiful lady long enough She and Walter were our first neighbors to come and say hi when we were building our new home beside their homestead Mike and I would look forward to our coffee and Timbits at her home in Wpg The conversations we had !
