BARBARA ELLEN KAPAC
It is with profound sadness that the Kapac family announces the passing of Barbara Ellen Kapac on May 5, 2026.
Barbara was born in 1958 in Winnipeg to Cyril and Maizie Russell. She married her husband, Robert, in 1978, and the couple relocated to Calgary for 12 years, where they welcomed three children: Christina, Benn, and Monica. In 1990, the family returned to Winnipeg and built the home on Shoreline that they would cherish for the next 36 years. In 1995, the family joyfully welcomed twins, Luke and Jon.
Barb was known by all for her unwavering dedication to her children, her generosity, and her endless kindness. Throughout her children's lives, she attended countless hockey games, dance recitals, and ultimate tournaments, and was a constant presence at school events. She treasured her peaceful summers at the long-time family cabin at Falcon Lake, a place that always brought her joy.
In recent years, Barb realized a lifelong dream by starting her own business, naming it Cymark Ltd. in honour of her parents. Beyond her professional life, she had a deep love for animals and was a familiar, friendly presence in her community; she could often be seen walking her beagle Huntley, and later, Lottie.
Barb will be remembered for the immeasurable love she had for her family and friends, her remarkable ability to solve any problem she encountered, and the way she consistently went above and beyond for those in her life. She will be forever missed by her husband, Robert; her children, Christina, Benn, Monica (Nathan; Brooks, Logan, and Max), Luke, and Jon (Julia; Mitchell); and her brother, Douglas (Wendi).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honour Barb's memory consider donating to the Winnipeg Humane Society, reflecting her lifelong love of animals.
