LORI FASANO
After a life filled with love, dedication and hard work, Lori passed away on February 12, 2026 following 13 years of challenges from an anoxic brain injury followed by a brief illness.
Lori was predeceased by her mother Doris Poleschuk (1981) and her father Victor Poleschuk Sr. (2014). To mourn her passing are her husband David Fasano; her children, Alison Mooney (Chris) and Scott Fasano (Jacqueline); her grandchildren, Carson Mooney, Mackenzie Mooney and Hayden Fasano; her sisters, Judy Vanderhorst (Jo), Karen Mann (George), Lisa Anderson (Keith); and her brothers, Victor Poleschuk (Beverly), Matthew Poleschuk (Janice); her brother-in-law Gary Fasano (June); sister-in-law Susan Midford (Lorne); and her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Lori grew up in Elmwood in Winnipeg. Throughout her childhood and adolescent years, Lori was actively involved in a number of community and school sports at Chalmers C.C. and Elmwood High School. Lori excelled at all levels of her education. She followed this success to university where she enrolled in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba graduating in 1982 with her Bachelor of Science-Pharmacy degree.
Lori started her pharmacy career at Keewatin Drug Mart in 1982, and then was the second pharmacist hired by Safeway Canada. Lori moved to Mississauga in 1997, and became a Senior Executive for the Hudsons Bay Company as the General Manager Pharmacy overseeing the national pharmacy operations.
As much as Lori loved her career, there was nothing more important to her than her love of family. Lori met Dave at university and they married in May of 1983. In 1987 Alison was born followed by Scott in 1990. Nothing gave Lori more joy than watching these two grow and develop into the adults they are today.
In 2013 Lori suffered an anoxic brain injury that left her unable to move or talk but over the years Lori was thrilled to see her children get married and the arrival of three grandchildren, Carson, Mackenzie and Hayden. These events brought Lori much joy. Lori was always happiest when spending time with family. They were all able to be with Lori in her last days, when she finally found peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 29th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Delta Hotel, 250 St Mary's Avenue, Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lori Fasano Scholarship at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Manitoba. Contact Adrienne Scherger in UM Donor Relations at 204-226-0227.
