JACK KING

April 24, 1947 – May 16, 2026

Peacefully, on May 16, 2026, Jack King passed away at the age of 79 years at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Born at Portage General Hospital on April 24, 1947 to John and Lillian King. The family moved to Winnipeg early in Jack’s life, but he was never far from the Farm in Westbourne, Manitoba, spending many summers at the family home with his sister Shirley and cousins Dick and Ian.

Mr. King was a teacher at Winnipeg School Division #1, shaping young minds at every level over 30 years. Elementary school was his passion and he finished his career at Fort Rouge School on Mayfair.

Moving full time to the cottage at Twin Lakes Beach after retirement, Jack kept his contact with the land and open vistas with his partner of 30 years, Jan Presley.

His life and actions will forever leave a mark on the many people who had relationships with him, be it short or long term.

In addition to his partner Jan, Jack leaves his children Sean (Crystal), Shannon (Geoff), Ashleigh and Meagan; grandchildren Kyra (Houston), Caelin, Signe, Kate, Addyson, Ryan, Charlee, Madison (Mark), Montana and many extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main St., Winnipeg, Manitoba).

  • My condolences to family and Jan. I will always remember Jack fondly from our days at Fort Rouge together. Jack had a big heart that was devoted to the well-being of every student. He saw the potential in each of them and encouraged it. His compassion and kindness extended to everyone. Jack had a fabulous sense of humour and his quick whit kept us all laughing! That laugher will be in my favourite memories of Jack. He was a character! - Posted by: Pennie D (co-worker) on: May 24, 2026
