LILY PROKOPCHUK
Lily was born on the farm in the Zbaras Interlake area of Manitoba on October 24, 1934. She was registered in town on October 27, 1934 so that became her official birthday.
She attended school until the end of ninth grade then moved to Winnipeg and found work in a sewing factory.
In 1957 she married Nick Prokopchuk. Their first daughter Monica was born in 1961, followed by Kim in 1963. Nick’s job moved them to Dauphin in 1966, where they remained until returning to Winnipeg in 1987.
Lily was predeceased by her husband Nick, sister Mary (Mike) and brother Ed (Mary), son-in-law Graham, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter Monica, daughter Kim (Barry), granddaughters, Shalan (LeBraun) and Tiana (Liz), grandsons, Slava (Fiona) and Nolan, great-granddaughter Aurelia and great-grandson Loewen, brother Donnie (Virginia), sister Diana (Wayne), and several nieces and nephews.
The family is especially grateful to her two wonderful companions Liezl and Edna not only for helping with her care, but for making everyday fun with dignity. Also, to all levels of staff at Simkin Centre.
