Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL (MIKE) WATSON
If you heard a car driving by with the music turned up too loud, it was likely Mike Watson. Mike passed away at 74, leaving behind his legendary record collection, a devoted family, and a life richly lived.
Mike was known for his passion, sharp intellect, and dry wit. He loved the open road, a good book, great music, and, above all, his family. While he had a distinguished legal career, called to the Manitoba Bar in 1978 and the Alberta Bar in 1980, and later named Queen’s Counsel, he will be remembered most for his integrity, leadership, and the impact he had on those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; his children Chris (Andrea), Chelsea (Justin), Brian, Allison (Matt), and Sara; and his cherished grandchildren Evelyn, Oliver, Wesley, and Finn. He is also survived by his sisters Sheila (Mike), Cath (Don), Liz, and Jenn (Mike), along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, John and Patricia Watson, and his sister, Barb.
A private family service will be held. Donations may be made to the KW Humane Society or the Community Music School of Waterloo Region.

I first met Mike during my undergraduate years at the University of Manitoba, and was in close contact with him during my graduate program while he pursued a degree and career in law. Mike introduced me to music and was a partner in many racquet sports. He was also my guide in selecting Hi-Fi equipment and was a valued customer at American Hi-Fi. We were both involved in each other’s weddings. I lost contact with him when he moved away from Winnipeg but reconnected with him later when I was neighours with his parents in St. Vital. Many fond memories. My deepest condolences to his family. - Posted by: Kumar Sharma (Friend) on: Jun 05, 2026
